You can use our services in different ways: the share information, communicate with other people, or to create new content. We want that you can see how we store your data and in which ways you can protect your privacy when using our services.

  • Who owns the data stored by us.
  • Who has access to your data?
  • How long we keep your data.
  • How we secure your data.

 

Your data

OpenEdu does not have possession over your data. OpenEdu does not take a stand in the discussion whether the data belongs to the institution using our system, but we know it is not ours. The data you upload to our system is yours. This implies the following:

  • OpenEdu does not collect your data for her own use or commercial use.
  • Opened will not share your data with others.
  • We store your data for as long as you want.
  • You always have the opportunity to take your data with you if you choose to use an external service in combination with our platform, or if you want to seize using our services altogether.
  • OpenEdu will act in full accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act.

 

Access to your data

OpenEdu only has access to your data with your approval. For technical support purposes, the administrator of your domain may choose to grant the support team of OpenEdu account access permission for solving specific problems.

In practice, most cases show that we have a standard administrator account to be able to immediately solve problems if they occur. Because of this reason we work with an opt out system, in case you do not want to grant us full access.

All actions within our platform are logged. That way it is clear to all administrators who made which actions on the platform.

 

Storing your data

You are in charge over your data and you will always have access to it. OpenEdu stores multiple backup copies of your data, so user accounts and content can be restored in case of mistakes or system failure. When you ask us to remove messages and content, we will do our best to remove this data from our systems within a - from a business view - reasonable amount of time.

 

Data security

We work hard to protect our system and our users against unauthorized access, or unauthorized adjustments, publication or destruction of data in our possession. In particular the following applies:

  • We encode many of our services with SSL.
  • We offer the opportunity to supply you with a two-step authentication when you open your account.
  • We evaluate our procedures in regard to collecting, storing and processing your data, including physical security measures, as protection against unauthorized access to our systems.
  • We limit the access to personal data to the employees of OpenEdu. These persons are subjected to strict contractual confidentiality agreements, and can be sanctioned or fired in case they do not meet these conditions.

 

Cookies

We make use of cookies on our website, to optimize the functionality of certain pages of the website. Cookies are small text files that are placed on the computer of a visitor by certain pages of the website. In a cookie information is stored, like certain preferences of the visitor. That way we are able to be of service even more to the visitor on their next visit.

Cookies can always be removed from a computer through the browser settings.

 

Application

Our Privacy Policy applies to all services provided by OpenEdu, including services provided on other sites.

Our Privacy Policy does not apply to services provided by other companies or individuals, including products from third parties that are integrated in our system, but are not hosted on our servers.

 

Changes

We reserve the right to make changes in this privacy statement. Changes will be published on our website.
